The consensus is pretty clear on how dabbers prefer a carb cap over domeless dabbing. And it’s true regardless of the dabbing style and technique you choose. While some people prefer the low-temperature dabs, others like to go with higher-temp dabs. Still, there are those who prefer moderate temperatures in between. No matter which style you choose, capping your dab gives a fuller and steadier hit. Carb caps can even out the temperatures around and inside the nail. It can help you control the entry and exit of air. This means dabbing is easier without all the hassle of burnt concentrates and torch-handling.

Choose the best carb cap.

While it’s true that carb caps can enhance your dabbing, not all caps work equally well on all dabs. And today, you’ll find a wide variety of carb caps available in the market. With the diverse designs and materials, it can be hard to narrow down on a choice. While it started with slim, shaky titanium bangers, you’ll find a much richer variety of caps and accessories today.

If it’s purely based on preference, then there’s a carb cap out there for everyone. But as an objective take on which one performs the best, the single nail-and-cap combination gives all dabbers the best results. So, a banger nail along with a bubble carp cap should work best whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned user.

Before you know how to use carb caps, you have to know the materials they’re made from. Earlier carb caps started out with titanium, and it worked well. But today, the preferred material is borosilicate glass. If you already have a borosilicate glass cap and a quartz nail, you know what we’re talking about. Ceramic caps are also easily available now. But if we’re talking about a glass banger, then the glass carb cap works the best.

People prefer the glass caps more because it doesn’t react with heat and concentrates as much as titanium. Metals like titanium can create an aftertaste that affects the flavor profile of your dab. And it may possibly contain chemicals that are better off not inhaling. Also, titanium can retain the heat a little too well. So, you run the risk of burning your hands too while handling it. Glass caps have the ability to get cooler much faster than metal.

Changing designs of carb caps

If you’ve ever wondered how to use carb caps, it may have been because of the confusing designs you’ve seen. Along with changing materials, carb caps have also adopted different designs and shapes over the years. With the entry of glass caps into the market, the variety of design has also grown. You’ll come across designs such as caps for honey buckets, nail-attached hinge caps, caps for the sidearm, etc. However, there’s one cap design that has gained universal appeal – the ball carb cap.

Ball carb caps usually have a go-to design. It looks like a glass pipe went straight through the middle of a glass ball. The glass pipe is hollow on either end, with one side longer than the other. The ball sits on the banger nail with the shorter end inside and the longer tube sticking out. The edges create an airtight cap, and you can use the longer end to move the ball around for increased or decreased airflow.

Ball carb caps are, essentially, directional caps that allow this movement of airflow as opposed to an ordinary and static cap. Ordinary carb caps can trap stagnant air, which can create puddles instead of boiling heat. Directional carb caps can easily ensure that there’s even vaporization of the concentrates.

Directional carb caps look like small additions to your setup, but they give you much more control over your rig. One of the main functions is to restrict the airflow into the nail. This means your nail can retain an even temperature for longer periods. So, you don’t have to face over-heating or nails that cool down too quickly. Secondly, a ball carb cap ensures that all the concentrates get vaporized evenly. So, you waste less of your content, and you don’t have to perform frequent cleaning of the nail (But regular cleaning is still a good idea). If you’re using a quartz banger, it also prevents that cloudy look from taking over.

Although directional carb caps take the cake in dabbing, there are other designs that can also work well. Modern designs include marble-style caps that come without handles. They just stay put in the banger, and you can work them around based on the airflow you need. But the stem-less design makes it difficult to reach concentrates that need more heat in the banger.

Other similar designs forego the ball shape, but they don’t work as well with all rigs. Before you get a full grasp of how to use carb caps, you also have to know which designs to stay away from. The best approach here would be to give other designs a try while still having a ball carb cap for regular use. You can then decide whether to shift to the new design or stay with the time-tested ball carb cap.

How to use Ball Carb Caps with Bangers

Ball caps and bangers are the ultimate combo when it comes to quality dabbing. And these caps work even better with flat-top or thermal bangers. So, if you’re a low-temperature dabber, it’s all good news for you. Ball caps are much easier to maintain and clean. And directional carb caps are unmatched when it comes to mobility on the nail. Whenever you use them, make sure you move the concentrates around to the right heat levels and airflow. This is a distinct advantage that you don’t get with domeless nails or ordinary carb caps.

Don’t be afraid to try different airflow levels and change the temperature to find the right spot. The nuances of how to use ball carb caps will come to you with experience. For starters, go and get a ball carb cap if you don’t have one already!  Check out DestinationSmoke.Com
